In February 2006 the Chinese New Year Festival celebrated the Year of the Dog. The Rogue Valley was honored by a visit from Yeh Feh Pai, an internationally acclaimed brush painting artist and musician. At the Schneider Museum on the campus of Southern Oregon University in Ashland, in conjunction with the Southern Oregon Historical Society, an evening of artistry and history was presented. The celebration continued in Jacksonville with a parade, martial arts demonstrations, a variety program of costumes, music and dancing, a brush painting demonstration, and a book talk by award-winning author, Irene Kai. Children also enjoyed a wide variety of activities.
